Thursday, the president's campaign for a second term, rolled out a health care page "Faces of Change"

The White House did some calculating, and came up with all things that a $150,000 tax cut per average for millionaires and billionaires would pay for. Excerpt from Essay by Joan McCarter

Excerpt of the message from senior adviser David Plouffe
Republicans in Washington want to give millionaires and billionaires an average tax break of at least $150,000. They want to pay for those tax cuts by slashing programs that create jobs and protect our children, our seniors, and the veterans who have fought for the country. They want to end Medicare as we know it. And they want to undercut our economic strength by rolling back key investments in education, research, and our nation's roads and bridges.

Paul Ryan budget would kill millions of jobs

Take a look at what impact the Ryan budget would have on jobs. That budget would wipe out millions of existing jobs.
The GOP budget go-to-guy Paul Ryan (R-WI) unveiled his latest Tea Party-inspired budget, and his plan for the United States is terrifying. One of its most shocking elements is to cut the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as "food stamps." SNAP doesn't just provide minimal sustenance for those in poverty, it is directly responsible for creating roughly a million jobs nationwide in the food industry.¹ In the middle of a lingering economic downturn, the Republican plan aims to take food away from hungry children while destroying jobs, all in the name of protecting the wealthy from paying their fair share in taxes.
No one wants to rely food stamps. They are a last line of defense before starvation, and half of the meals provided go to kids!  Republicans appear to be going back on the deal they agreed to last August with President Obama to make $600 billion in "trigger" cuts to military spending rather than asking the rich to pay tax rates similar to what they paid during the 1990s under President Clinton. By doing so, Republicans will force still more budget cuts than they've already proposed, which are likely to include SNAP and other programs that are helping poor and middle class Americans survive in this terrible economy.
